School of Physical Education and Sports

School of Physical Education and Sports is one of the leading structural units of the university, playing a significant role in training highly qualified and competitive specialists in the field of physical education and sports.

Currently, the school is headed by PhD Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Bakhtizhan Sultanuly Omarov. Under his leadership, the school’s team possesses a high scientific and pedagogical potential and actively works in the fields of education and scientific research.

The school employs a highly qualified faculty with deep theoretical knowledge, professional experience, and modern pedagogical methods. The Academic staff of the school consists of 32 specialists, including:

  • 3 Doctors of Science;
  • 5 PhD Doctors;
  • 7 Candidates of Science;
  • 4 Adjunct Professors;
  • 12 Senior Lecturers;
  • 1 Lecturer;

Additionally, among the faculty members:

  • 3 International Masters of Sports;
  • 3 Masters of Sports of the USSR;
  • 4 Masters of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • 5 recipients of the “Best Lecturer” award of Kazakhstani higher education institutions;
  • 1 Honored Sports Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • 1 Honored Sports Figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • 2 Honored Coaches of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The school implements educational programs:

  • «6B11106 – Sports Tourism»,
  • «6B11107 – Sports and Health Fitness», aimed at training highly qualified, competitive specialists with comprehensive knowledge and competencies. The percentage of faculty with academic degrees in these programs exceeds 50%, demonstrating the high level of education quality at the school.

Students at the university have broad opportunities to professionally develop and participate in various competitions in their chosen sports. They can represent the university at the global, Asian, international, and republican levels, participate in winter and summer Universiades among Kazakhstani universities, as well as in student leagues.

The School of Physical Education and Sports plays an important role in supporting students’ sports achievements and professional growth. Specialist training is conducted through the following educational programs:

  • 6B11107 – Sports and Health Fitness.

These programs are designed to prepare specialists who are in demand in the labor market, with high professional competence and meeting modern requirements. Students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills within these programs.

6B11106 – Sports Tourism

Graduates of this program are qualified to work in the following areas:

Government and National Organizations:

  • Departments of Culture and Tourism;

  • Federations of Sports Tourism and Mountaineering;
  • Committee for Sports and Physical Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

Tourism and Sports Organizations:

  • Sanatorium and health resorts;
  • Sports and health centers;

  • Sports extreme tourism organizations such as Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA);

6B11107 – Sports and Health Fitness

Graduates of this program can perform the following roles:

  • Coach in a chosen sport;
  • Fitness trainer;
  • Fitness instructor or methodologist;
  • Organizer of sports and health services in sanatoriums and health-resort institutions;
  • Trainer-instructor in cultural and recreational facilities, as well as health centers;
  • Specialist in sports and health in government agencies and public organizations;
  • Coach in private sports centers and fitness clubs;
  • Teacher or coach of physical education in vocational education institutions and children’s and youth sports schools.

These educational programs provide graduates not only with professional competence but also with broad career opportunities. Graduates become highly competitive specialists who fully meet modern requirements in the fields of sports and tourism.

Educational and Industrial Practice

During the training of specialists in the fields of «6B11107 – Sports and Health Fitness» and «6B11106 – Sports Tourism», professional practice is given significant importance. Practice is conducted according to the curriculum and within the scope of educational activities.

Practice venues vary by ownership type and activity sector. Students undergo practice in fitness clubs equipped with the necessary material and technical base and modern equipment (such as World Class, FitNation, Sportlife, etc.), sports and health complexes of hotels, as well as in government agencies, public organizations, private companies, cultural and recreational facilities, sanatoriums, and health-resort establishments.

Additionally, practice takes place in massage and rehabilitation offices, ecological tourism organizations, tourist firms specializing in extreme and active tourism, travel agencies organizing domestic and international tourism, secondary vocational education institutions, and children’s and youth sports schools.

All practice venues fully comply with occupational health and safety requirements, ensuring the safety of students and the quality of their professional training.

Theory and methodology of physical education, Digital technologies in the field of physical culture and sports, Anatomy and fundamentals of sports morphology, Physiological foundations of physical education, Methods of organizing extracurricular work on physical education, History of physical culture, Theory and methodology of types of wrestling, Methods of physical strength development, Technologies of updated educational content and criteria assessment.

THE TRAJECTORY OF INDIVIDUAL KNOWLEDGE

Training of competitive specialists with comprehensive knowledge and the necessary skills and abilities that affect their personal development, as well as able to carry out professional activities aimed at improving the field of physical culture and sports, able to provide services in the field of education and sports.

PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE

The production / pedagogical practice of students is the most important link in the process of professional training of a sports teacher: a physical education teacher, a coach, an instructor in a chosen sport and is aimed at consolidating and deepening the theoretical knowledge acquired by students in the learning process, the formation and development of professional skills, and the study of work experience in physical education. The passage of educational and professional practice of students in an accredited PLO corresponds to the training of highly qualified specialists and is carried out in institutions assigned to the university in accordance with the established procedure. The passage of students of educational, pedagogical and professional practice is a mandatory component of training in the OP specialty.

Minor

Minor additional education program is a set of disciplines and (or) modules and other types of educational work defined for the purpose of forming additional competencies for students.
The scope of disciplines selected for the program of additional education is determined by the university itself. At the same time, additional subjects of EP are studied by students within the framework of choice component, and their volume is included in the total amount of credits required for awarding the corresponding degree or qualification under the main operating system.
Minor is recommended for all students to choose from at the end of the first year of Bachelor’s degree. Each student is required to choose one Minor to study. Minor is taught in the second and third courses of the Bachelor’s degree.
Minor features:
• study in the second and third years of Bachelor’s degree;
• consists of four disciplines that are systematically studied;
• Labor intensity of 20 credits (labor intensity of each discipline-5 credits);
• labor intensity is included in the main part of the educational program (credits for Minor subjects are included in 240 credits of the main program);
• each student of the educational program independently selects a Minor from the general minor catalog.
