About the University

NPC “International University of Tourism and Hospitality” was established on behalf of the Head of State K.K. Tokayev. The establishment of the University is enshrined in the State Program for the Development of the tourism industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2019-2025. The purpose of its creation was spelled out in the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2020-2024 and was to “improve the quality and accessibility of tourist products and services”.

On May 25, 2020, the Republican State Institution “Committee for Quality Assurance in the Field of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan” issued a state license No. KZ05LAA00018250 for the implementation of educational activities in the field of personnel training in the service sector and the direction of teacher training with a subject specialization of general development.

On June 22, 2020, the University received a Certificate of International Primary Institutional Accreditation (I–A No. 004) from the Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education.

On February 17, 2022, the authorized body of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan issued a Certificate No. 000356 to the University, giving the right to participate in the competition of scientific and (or) scientific and technical activities at the expense of the state budget, funds of subsoil users of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In December 2021, the University became the first university of the Republic of Kazakhstan approved as a member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization.

In early October 2023, the University was included in the list of foreign universities recognized by the Council of Higher Education of Turkey (Yükseköğretim Kurulu).

The University is the only specialized higher education institution in Kazakhstan that trains personnel for the service sector, actively introducing elements of dual training into its educational programs.

The mission of the University is to train professionals for the service sector who are clearly aware of the uniqueness of Kazakhstan and are ready to devote their lives to popularizing their country at the world level.

The University’s motto is “Know the uniqueness of Kazakhstan yourself, show it to the world!”

The main values of the University are integrity, continuous improvement, equal access to education, teamwork, openness and creativity.

In September 2022, a Research center was established at the University, one of the main tasks of which is the development and implementation of applied research projects. Currently, 2 research projects are being implemented, funded from the republican budget (2023-2025).  Since September 2023, the international journal “Bulletin of the International University of Tourism and Hospitality” has been published, for which a certificate issued by the Information Committee of the Ministry of Information and Public Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan was received on June 16, 2023.

In 2023, a Military department was opened at the University, which is designed to improve the quality of military education of students and their military-patriotic education.

Currently, within the framework of the agreements concluded, work is underway with the largest School of Gastronomy in the Commonwealth of Independent States at the Siberian Federal University and the French School “VATEL BUSINESS SCHOOL”. Cooperation with them will allow the University not only to strengthen international partnership, gain invaluable experience in the development, implementation and realization of international educational programs, but also significantly enhance external academic mobility, and hence its recognition abroad.

On the basis of cooperation agreements with domestic and foreign universities, teachers and students participate in the academic mobility program of L. Gumilev Eurasian National University (Astana), Almaty Management University (Almaty), Turan University (Almaty), the Caspian State University of Technology and Engineering named after Sh. Yesenov (Aktau), Kyzylorda University named after Korkyt Ata (Kyzylorda), A. Myrzakhmetov Kokshetau University (Kokshetau), Sh. Ualikhanov Kokshetau University (Kokshetau Kokshetau), M. Auezov South Kazakhstan State University (Shymkent), M. Saparbayev Institute (Shymkent), H.A. Yassavi International Kazakh-Turkish University (Turkestan), Mirzoulugbek National University of Uzbekistan (Uzbekistan), Antalya University (Turkey), Prince of Songkla University (Thailand), etc. The recognition of YÖK University will certainly expand the opportunities for establishing partnerships with Turkish universities and research centers.

The University conducts educational activities in 2 areas of personnel training: 1) 6B111 – “Service sector” (“B091 – Tourism”, “B093 – Catering and hotel business”, “B092 – Leisure”); 2) 6B014 – “Training of teachers with subject specialization of general development” (“B005 – Training of physical education teachers”).

Personnel training is carried out according to 11 educational programs, namely:

1) “6B11101 – Organization of the tourism and hospitality industry”;

2) “6B11102 – International and domestic tourism”;

3) “6B11103 – Organization of excursion services and individual tours”;

4) “6B11104 – Hotel and restaurant business”;

5) “6B11105 – Management of tourist destinations”;

6) “6B01401 – Physical culture and sports”;

7) “6B01402 – Physical education and initial military training”;

8) “6B11107 – Sports and wellness fitness”;

9) “6B11108 – Management of organized tourism and excursion and animation activities”;

10) “6B11109 – Event management”;

11) “6B11106 – Sports tourism”.

In order to ensure the development of vocational education through active interaction with employers and other social partners, work is actively underway to implement dual training. More than 150 students of the groups of educational programs “B091– Tourism”, “B093– Restaurant business and hotel business” are trained with elements of dual education.

Bilateral agreements have been concluded with 30 organizations, such as Aktau Tourism City Ltd (Aktau), BR Travel LLP (Astana), Happy Travel LLP (Astana), Hotel Servise Astana LLP (Astana), Turion Investment Group LLP (Astana), “Kazaviatrade LLP” (Astana), “Atiko-Astana” LLP (Astana), “Tech Expert EM&ET” LLP (Almaty), IP “PSN 38” (Almaty), IP “M&M Travel” (Almaty), “Icer” LLP” (Almaty), Green Travel Qazaqstan LLP (Almaty), Evisa Travel LLP (Almaty), Alma-Ata Hotel LLP (Almaty), Makkah Travel LLP (Almaty Almaty), LLP “Happy Travel Almaty 1” (Almaty), LLP “All Sapar” (Almaty), LLP “CIT Travel” (Shymkent), LLP “Mihrab” (Shymkent), LLP “PSN Shymkent 6” (Shymkent), LLP “Keruen” (Shymkent), TOO “Turkistan International Airport” (Turkestan), IP “Arystanbayev Askhat” (Turkestan).

More than 80 mentors from enterprises participate in dual training, weekly evaluate the practical knowledge and skills of students obtained at the base.

The total contingent of students at IUTH is 2,639 people. The total number of employees, including teaching staff, is 235 people. The University employs graduates of a number of foreign universities, such as Wismar University (Germany), University of British Columbia (Canada), Tenago National University (Malaysia), Xinjiang University (China), Istanbul University, Ankara University, Gazi University (Turkey) and Tomsk Polytechnic University (Russian Federation). Some employees have completed internships abroad at UniversityofParis (Sorbonne, France), Ankara University, Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, Gazi University (Turkey), Colorado School of Mines (Colorado, USA).

In addition, there are also individuals who were at different times or are now experts of Kazakhstan accreditation agencies (Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education, Independent Kazakhstan Accreditation Center), the National Testing Center, the National Center for the Development of Higher Education, the National Center for State Scientific and Technical Expertise.
