History of the school
For the first time at the university in September of the 2020-2021 academic year, the department “Sports and General Education disciplines” was established. Since September 2021, the Department of “Sports and General Education disciplines” was renamed the Department of “Sports” and became an independent structural unit of the Faculty of “Tourism and Sports”. From the 2023-2024 academic year, due to structural changes, the Department of “Sport” was renamed the School of “Physical Culture and Sports”.
Currently, the school is headed by Doctor of Philosophy PhD, Associate Professor Omarov Bakhytzhan Sultanovich.
The school “Physical Culture and Sports” is one of the university departments with high scientific and pedagogical potential. The school employs highly qualified specialists who teach special disciplines in various sports, have deep knowledge, critical and creative thinking. The teaching staff of the school consists of 25 people, including 2 Doctor of Sciences, 5 PhD doctors, 6 candidates of Sciences, 2 Honored Worker of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 8 senior teachers of masters, 1 master’s teacher and 1 methodologist. Two teachers of the department have the title of “Master of Sports of the USSR”, 3 teachers are holders of the nomination “Best teacher” of the University of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The school trains competitive specialists with comprehensive knowledge and competencies who are able to carry out professional and pedagogical activities according to the educational programs “6B01401-Physical culture and sports”, “6B01402-Physical culture and initial military training”, “6B11107-Sports fitness”. The degree in these educational programs is more than 50%.
The University students are given the opportunity to defend the honor of the university at various competitions in various sports types, participate in winter and summer Universiades, student leagues held between universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and also participate in the championships of Kazakhstan, Asia, the World and various international competitions.
The school “Physical Culture and Sports” operates according to the following educational programs:
- “6B01401-Physical culture and sports”.
- “6B01402-Physical culture and initial military training”
- “6B11107-Sports and wellness fitness”
Graduates of the school who have qualified for educational programs can hold the following positions:
- A graduate of the educational program “6B01401-Physical culture and sports” can work as a teacher in general education, specialized boarding schools and pre-university institutions (colleges, etc.), as well as a coach in a chosen sports types in city, district, republican sports schools, etc.
- A graduate of the educational program “6B01402-Physical culture and initial military training” can work as a teacher in general education, specialized boarding schools and pre-university institutions (colleges, etc.), as well as a coach in a chosen sports types in city, district, republican sports schools, a teacher-organizer of initial military training, in the position of organizer of events on civil defense and life safety, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, internal and border troops. In addition, he can work as an instructor in the positions of sergeants and officers in the bodies of the KNB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
- A graduate of the educational program “6B11107-sports and recreational fitness” can work as a coach in his chosen sports types, fitness trainer, fitness instructor, methodologist and instructor in government agencies, public organizations, private companies, cultural and leisure activities, sanatoriums, resorts and health facilities, secondary vocational educational institutions and centers, children’s and youth sports schools.
Educational and pedagogical, industrial practice
During their studies at the university, the students enrolled in the educational program “6B01401-Physical culture and sports”, “6B01402-physical culture and initial military training” undergo educational and industrial practice in secondary schools, specialized and sports schools, pre-university institutions (colleges, etc.), in the Department of the Defense Affairs (military commissariat).
Students enrolled in the educational program “6B11107-Sports and recreational fitness” undergo educational and industrial practice in government agencies, public organizations, private companies, cultural and leisure activities, sanatorium and recreational institutions, secondary vocational educational institutions and centers, children’s and youth sports schools.
Students studying under the educational program “6B11106-Sports tourism” undergo training and industrial practice at enterprises of the tourism and hospitality industry of various forms of ownership: state bodies, public organizations and associations, private companies; republican, international tour operator and travel agency companies; accommodation and catering enterprises; cultural and leisure facilities; sanatorium-resort health and wellness institutions; national and international exhibition centers; secondary vocational educational institutions and centers; youth and youth centers of active tourism.
