French Consul General in Kazakhstan Fabrice Neveu visited IUTH

A business meeting with the Consul General of France in Kazakhstan, Mr. Fabrice Neveu, took place at the International University of Tourism and Hospitality.

Chairman of the Board – Rector Alibek Shokparov noted that he is ready to negotiate with higher education institutions in France on such important issues as academic mobility, exchange of professional experience, as well as expand the scope of interaction with universities in France.

“Relations between Kazakhstan and France are very close, especially in the field of education. In 2022, I participated in the forum of higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan and France, which was held in Paris. At the same meeting, France expressed a desire to create additional training programs together with Kazakhstan. And, of course, if the parties agree on legislation, we are ready to implement joint projects,” Alibek Zhumabekovich stressed.

In turn, the Consul General of France, expressing gratitude to the University of Tourism, spoke about the project of the French-Kazakh University in Kazakhstan. “This is an institutional cooperation with the participation of French and Kazakh educational institutions in the field of higher education and scientific research. That is, this is an institution that will combine French-Kazakh programs under a common logo, in particular double degree programs, as well as scientific cooperation projects,” the Chairman of the Board – Rector explained that if the bilateral agreement is implemented in accordance with the requirements of the legislation, after consultation with the relevant ministry, it is possible to make a proposal for such financing from the partiess of the state.

“Currently, 12 branches of foreign universities have been opened in Kazakhstan. There are only two ways to open it: an independent branch of a foreign state, for example, as De Montfort University in Almaty. The second is due to the joint preparation of an educational program and grant funding from the state. Therefore, if we want to open a branch, it will be possible only with the conclusion of a bilateral agreement,” Alibek Zhumabekovich said.

At the end of the meeting, the parties stressed that they would try to make appropriate proposals in order for cooperation to expand further.
