On April 26, 2022, a meeting was held between the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of the Kazakh-German University, Professor Barbara Janusz-Pawletta and the coordinator of the “Integrated Water Resources Management” master program, Larisa Kogutenko with Rector of International University of Tourism and Hispitality in Turkestan. Barbara Janusz-Pawletta is the Head of the UNESCO Chair on Water Resources Management in Central Asia at Kazakh-German University in Almaty.
Issues of double-degree education, academic mobility of teaching staff, joint organization of a summer school and steps to be prepared for opening of a UNESCO Chair at the International University of Tourism and Hospitality have been discussed at the meeting. Professor Barbara Janusz-Pawletta shared her rich experience in opening a large-scale international department at the Kazakh-German University and noted that IUTH infrastructure makes it possible to create a UNESCO Chair in this university. The guests also noted that such educational units will play a leading role in the sustainable development of tourism and the preservation of cultural heritage. It is important to emphasize that the task of establishing UNESCO Chair in the near future is included in action plan of IUTH.
