
From December 11 to 21, 2025, Abzhalov Sultanmurat, Mukhitdinov Rashid, Nurmatov Zhakangir, and Sandybai Zhalgas — project executors and research staff — participated in a scientific trip to Istanbul, Republic of Turkey, within the framework of project BR28713129 “Study of the Penetration and Spread of Islam in Kazakhstan Based on Archaeological and Written Sources.”
The purpose of the trip was to collect and systematize medieval Arabic sources on the penetration and spread of Islam in Central Asia (Mawarannahr), preserved in research institutes and library collections in Istanbul.
During the trip, work was carried out at İSAM (İslam Araştırmaları Merkezi), Süleymaniye Manuscript Library, Marmara University libraries, as well as in the collections of the Turkish Historical Society and the Directorate of Religious Affairs of Turkey. Arabic manuscripts, monographs, and scientific works relevant to the project topic were selected and analyzed. The collected materials will be used in further research and scientific publications.
