The Department of Hospitality of the International University of Tourism and Hospitality was formed on the basis of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality due to the increase in the number of students and the branching of the trajectories of educational programs. Currently, the department prepares specialties for 2 undergraduate educational programs in accordance with the Bologna Declaration, the system of credit education:
The department has a highly qualified teaching staff, which contributes to the development of this area. The teaching staff of the department consists of 5 candidates of economic sciences, 1 PhD, masters and 6 practitioners in the field of tourism.
In order to improve the level of knowledge of students, representatives of government agencies, business organizations are involved in the educational and scientific process. Also, the curricula developed for the 2022-2023 academic year have been developed taking into account modern economic and other changes, the requirements of business representatives, including the main requirements of the draft professional standard (developed by the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan “Atameken”).
When developing educational programs “Hotel and restaurant business”, “Organization of the tourism and hospitality industry”, government organizations and representatives of foreign and domestic businesses are actively involved in this.
In the 2022-2023 academic year, 63 students are studying in the 3rd year of the educational program “Organization of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry”, 42 students in the 2nd year, 147 students in the 1st year; in the 3rd year of the educational program “Hotel and restaurant business” – 76 students; in the 2nd year – 158 students, in the 1st year – 121 students, in total 607 students study in two educational programs.
To strengthen theoretical knowledge, the department has a dual education system, where some lectures of an applied nature and practical classes are conducted by leading managers at the bases of production practices, such as Caravan Saray, Top Tobe, Humpton be Hilton, Rixos, which contribute to a deeper study of these educational programs. Also, students are given the opportunity to undergo an internship during the summer holidays on the basis of practices of foreign universities with which contracts have been concluded.
